ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork is heavily moderated by my architectural background, as I deploy concepts that are spatial in nature and systematized in practice. My process often begins in the digital realm using computer-aided design and ends with a translation to a physical medium.

The result is a dynamic, experiential approach to making that challenges the traditional boundaries of architectural representation. The work seeks to look beyond the surface, capturing not just what is seen, but the underlying patterns that resonate within our deeper understanding of perception and space.

BIOGRAPHY

Isabella Salvo was born in Berkeley California and holds Italian and American citizenship. Her father is an architect and she grew up being immersed in art and design. In 2014 she attended the five year architecture program at the Rhode Island school of design. It was here that she developed her architectural thesis with an emphasis on spatial perception. For her final project, she designed a virtual reality space, composed purely of vectors. After she graduated, she worked briefly for an architecture firm in New York City before moving back to California to join her father’s architecture firm as a lead designer. Eventually leading her own project in 2021. She currently resides in Berlin Germany, doing architecture work remotely, while splitting her time producing for her more theoretical visual arts work. She was acquired as an artist at Hilleckes Gallery in 2023 and has shown work there multiple times since.
